Capturing the silent yet loud moments

What was my goal

As I brought my camera to Seattle (September 2025), I wanted to maintain a sense of quietness in a busy city - Especially a touristy location. I wanted to capture emotions, textures, and individual experience within the shadows. I had almost lost touch of what community and self-perserverience felt like when they coexisted.

At the time, I felt alone and quiet - almost internally lost. These quiet interactions made me feel at peace for the time being.

The lady at the fruit stand

I felt a sense of familiarity seeing her selling fruit. Maybe it reminded me of people at home using food as a way to connect one another and expressing their love. Maybe she had actually reminded me of the older ladies at the markets working like my own grandmother cutting my fruit to express her own love.

Connection from Hand to food

The movement that we are brought to by food intrigues me. We know how good a fruit or vegetable is just by touch. I remember as a kid going grocery shopping with my mom or grandmothers - touching all the fruit and vegetables knowing by smell or touch which would be best. Sometimes now, I just hope for the best after observing it. A skill I know I'll obtain from them over time.

Reflection

Looking back on these photos makes me feel happy and proud. I feel most connected to the close up on physical connection between person and objects. It takes me back to the moments of being there in the somewhat chilly morning and embracing the feeling of "this is kind of overrated" yet "I wish I could walk though there again" because what I felt was a near and distant connection to each interaction

With this man in the photo, he was playing music lively enough for us to all hear and take in even though the noise of interaction itself. I thought that photographing him would be the right thing to do.
